Every institute has a beginning. Ours began in 1982 with one student, one bicycle and a teenager who needed to pay his college fees.
1982: a cycle, a dream and one student
Mr. Kiran Bora was 15 years old when he started giving home tuitions to an acquaintance’s son to pay for his own education. He cycled around 30 km a day to reach his students in Yerwada, Pune. That single tuition became the foundation of Bora Classes.
Students from those early years still talk about the night batches he held under street lights. His spirit of “never say no to hard work” shaped the institute’s culture from day one.
Growing with Pune
Word spread from parent to parent. Mr. Kiran Bora became one of the best-known Maths and Science teachers in Pune, and Bora Classes grew from home tuitions into a full coaching institute.
2007: a new generation joins
Mr. Mangesh Bora joined the institute in 2007. He blended the founder’s traditional, disciplined teaching with modern methods and technology. His motto, “Better Concepts, Better Future”, reflects the institute’s focus on understanding rather than memorising.
2014: Bora’s Science Academy
To guide students beyond the 10th boards, Bora Classes launched Bora’s Science Academy for IIT-JEE and NEET coaching.
2017: CBSE coaching
Bora Classes expanded into CBSE board coaching and delivered strong results from the very first year.
2026: a year of toppers
In the 2026 board exams, Saad Khan scored 99.2% in SSC, and Shanaya Furtado (96.8%) and Zeel Prajapati (96.2%) led our CBSE results. 61 Bora students scored 90% or more.
What has not changed
In 44 years, the tools have changed from chalkboards to smart boards, but the values remain the same: determination, hard work, holistic learning and social ethics. As Mr. Kiran Bora says, “Low aim is a crime.” Every student, whatever their starting point, gets an equal chance to learn and excel.
